Rush

Upstream
must be where
we all began
emerging, exploding
to drift (we call it schooling)
downriver.

The dream
that came to us
in our salty bed
bade us,
return!

Return to the shallow ground
of wriggling, fluttering,
one-mind orgy,
last-gasping
spawn.
Upstream
must be where
we all end
in a circle
completed.
